Dear Member
LUTTERWORTH GOLF CLUB REVISED DRESS CODE
Your Committee has been considering a range of options to widen the appeal of your golf club, both on the course and in the clubhouse. Discussions with members and the survey you recently completed have indicated that many thought the dress rules were outdated and, in some circumstances, a constraint and particularly in respect of clubhouse usage.
The old dress rules have been completely reviewed and following careful consideration the General Committee has agreed a new DRESS CODE. It is considered this Dress Code is relatively relaxed yet still retains an acceptable standard and will meet the differing requirements of the majority of what is a wide age range of our membership.
There was one area where your committee opted for a more cautious approach. A number of people felt that jeans and trainers should be permitted, and particularly in the 19th hole. Following some vigorous debate we have decided not to permit blue denim jeans or trainers. It is recognised that this will disappoint a few; however, we consider that the majority would not at this stage support such a change.
We have tried to make the dress code as least prescriptive as possible, recognising that it is applicable mainly to an adult population. Team captains will be responsible for ensuring that appropriate guidance is given to visiting teams and the Office will ensure that visiting societies are provided with guidance. The Professional staff will guide casual visitors.
The new Dress Code will be reviewed towards the end of the year. Your comments on the changes are welcomed and particularly your views in respect of the debate regarding jeans and trainers.
It is the responsibility of all members and their guests to adhere to the dress code.
I look forward to receiving your feedback
