A Happy New Year everyone from your Lady Captain Bubbles Emmett
I couldn’t start the new year without commenting on the latter part of 2008 and the social part of the golf club.
Apart from the course being a great place to play golf our new caterers and the social committee have worked wonders in encouraging new people to attend our now, very active social functions. What a turnaround it will make to the club funds to have all these extra people at our social functions and with many more planned for 2009.
KEEP SUPPORTING.
18th Nov. Ladies Christmas Party
I was delighted with an attendance of 60 at the ladies annual Christmas party. Food was out of this world. We had a super start with canapes and punch being served on arrival. This was followed by a superb 5 course traditional meal which was enjoyed by everyone. Entertainment was provided - a great comedy duo called Dandy from Brum - who also provided some lively dance music.
22nd Nov Salsa Evening
We had a very different evening having a Salsa demo. provided by the organiser Laura who is one of our newer members and promises to liven up the club members during 2009. Looking forward to that.
We had lots of people up dancing (including some men) and some excellent Mexican food was provided by our caterers.
30th Nov Captains’ Drive In
Our Captain’s Drive was a spectacular affair. Derek, our Captain, organised a pony and trap and myself, Derek and the Junior Captain, Damien Slater, all dressed accordingly, arrivied at the golf club after a very cold trip round Lutterworth town. Damien showed everyone how to drive a golf ball by knocking it over 270 yards.
Some nice hot soup and chilli went down well and thank you all who braved a very cold day to make it all worth while. Caterers did us proud again.
19th Dec Members Night
Great band and great food.
31st Dec New Years Eve
How could the 116 people who supported the night not have enjoyed themselves?
I have certainly never seen the likes of the buffet that was laid on by Charisma who provided both hot and cold food. After organising all the food we then find Lewis playing the drums in the band provided by him at very short notice. The disco was to everyones taste, testament to all the people on the dance floor and on the area surrounding it.
We had people from Nuneaton and Ullesthorpe golf club asking “Is it always like this?”
Once again have a great New Year
Bubbles
