From the Ladies Captain

Hello to all our lady members and I hope that you are having a successful season so far. As I write this the sun is shining with not a cloud in the sky, long may it continue!! As many of you are  aware I have been unable to play golf for a little while, I have however been up at the club to see how you are all getting on. I am feeling much much better so hopefully it won't be long before I see you on the golf course again.

Ladies County Foursomes

At the start of the season I asked Maggie Deere to help me with team selection and we put together a squad of six players who were all good enough to be selected for the team.
Our first match, unfortunately, was against last year's champions, Scraptoft and, although we put up a great fight, we eventually lost the match on the 18th. Pam and Maggie and Mary and Bernie played wonderfully, but alas it was not to be. Maybe next year.

Ladies Scratch Matches

We adopted the same squad system and organised practices were open to all team members which created a competitive atmosphere and a good team spirit.
Our first match, having been promoted to the 2nd division was against the Leicestershire. We all looked really smart in our new team colours which helped us to go out and win 5½-1½ . Well done team. We have three more tough matches coming up and would like more ladies to put their names forward to join the squad.

Golf practice

The ladies have set up a series of practice sessions with Lee and these are proving very successful. The chipping and course management lessons seem to be the most popular. Maggie is setting up some extra sessions. If you are interested in any of them then keep your eye on the notice board.

The golf course has a new toilet thanks to our Vice Captain Kevin and from all the ladies goes a big thank you and to all the men ‘Don’t forget to put the seat down after use!!’ Photos to follow..

A big thank you to Giromax, a Lutterworth based company, for sponsoring the ladies team slipovers. They look wonderful and they give the ladies a team identity.

Well done and thanks to the girls who played in the Silver and Bronze shields. This was played at Glen Gorse in dreadful weather conditions- heavy rain at times and even hail. The Silver team came third with Maggie Deere, Pam Etchingham and Chris Wilson. In the Bronze team were Annette Copeland, Jules Barker and Sandra Morris.

Congratulations to our lady Secretary, Sue Fletcher for competing in and completing the London Marathon Moonwalk in aid of Breast Cancer research. Well done Sue.
