Lutterworth Junior wins the Cosby Junior Open and the under 12 section at the IAPS Championship at Royal Lytham and St Annes.

Congratulations to James Waterfield aged 11. James has started the season in excellent form when on the 18th May he came 3rd in the Wellington College under 11 tournament. He followed this up on the 27th May when he won the Cosby Junior Open; and on the 6th June he went on to win the under 12 age group of the IAPS (Independent Assoc Prep Schools) Championship at Royal Lytham and St Annes. James is a junior member at both Lutterworth (Home Club) and Cosby and for his age plays off a very creditable 22 handicap.

Hole in one ace donates to Junior Section

Keith Houchen achieved a ‘Hole in One’ on the 4th hole during Captain’s Day. In recognition of this, Keith has kindly donated £100 to the Junior Section. The money will be used to provide additional coaching and etiquette aide memoirs. I have written to Keith to thank him for his generosity.

Foundation Cup

A new competition has been introduced and called the Foundation Cup. The cup has been sponsored by Darren McKay and stems from an idea from some of our members including first team players who are keen to see a thriving junior section. The cup was played for on 28 June and there was an excellent turnout. The cup is open to men, ladies and juniors with a CONGU handicap (28 or below for boys and 36 for girls)

It will be a regular annual competition and was won in its inaugural year by Keith Bowen and Mick O’Connor. Proceeds from the competition have been donated to our junior section.
