Senior Moments Newsletter - July 2008

Each year at our AGM for what seems like a decade Roy Tomlin has proposed that we should have a team strip. Each year the idea has been resoundingly rejected - the Corinthian spirit flows too strongly in our blood to contemplate such modern fads. We'd be seeking sponsorship from Vodaphone next!

Until this year: when, to everyone's astonishment, perhaps including Roy's, the proposal was agreed. So we now turn out in a smart green tee-shirt emblazoned with the Club logo.

It would be good to add that the uniform has transformed our golf. Not so. We still meet with the same mixture of triumph and disaster - and we still treat these twin impostors just the same.

Well over thirty members have turned out for the team in our very full programme of matches. This year we have new fixtures against Glen Gorse (a very happy occasion in June) and in July against Kirby Muxloe and Northampton. We are not too old to make new friends.

The seniors Open on 12 June was this year organised by the Club (rather than the Seniors Secretary). There was a capacity turnout and the course was highly praised by very many visitors. It was a very happy event and will have done the Club a lot of good. There are still some slots available in the Seniors Open 4BBB on Monday 18 August.

The Seniors are always glad to welcome new members.
