Good afternoon Steve and Jane

I just wanted to say a big thank on behalf of the “Burnt Crumpets” to everybody at Lutterworth Golf Club who contributed towards making our society day so enjoyable.

The day always starts well with a good breakfast, which it certainly was. The golf course was in great condition and the freshly ironed greens coupled with some very interesting Pin positons certainly made the day all the more entertaining.

I would also be interested to know if a group of 18 have ever all failed to hit the green on the 15th before?

Once again many thanks.

Please pass on my thanks to Lutterworth GC for their very kind hospitality. The Midlands Past Presidents really enjoyed a super day on Wednesday 20th April and the catering was exceptional. Many thanks to everyone concerned

Hi Steve

Just to let you know how delighted my brother and I were about the joint do we had at the golf club on Saturday.

Everything worked so well- food was good, bar and food service efficient  with a smile. The 100 people attending were full of praise for the venue. The room, tables etc showed the club off in its very best light.

Becky [ and Lauren] in the discussions beforehand were professional, responding constructively to every issue we raised, and with a friendliness and a calmness which, allied to their professionalism, made us very confident that all would go well on the afternoon/night.

They also responded very helpfully when we discovered, quite late on, that the Travelodge [approx 40 of our friends were staying there]does not do Sunday breakfast. The golf club breakfast the staff put on was excellent.

I hope the musical saw performance, euphonium duets, the jazz quintet, the folk singing, the enthusiastic singing in English  and French of the Marseillaise, as well as Tiyende pamodzi in Chinyanja[don`t ask!] didn`t disturb the staff or anyone watching the rugby too much.It was an unusual but very successful celebration.

In summary 100 new supporters of Lutterworth Golf Club as a great venue

Best Wishes

Hi Rebecca

Thank you very much for last Thursdays Xmas dinner.

Everyone was very happy with everything, I didn’t get a single negative comment and a good time was had by all.

Your staff did an excellent job and were very helpful with a pleasant nature.

I hope you have a wonderful Xmas and a prosperous new year.

Looking forward to doing it again next year.

Kind regards

Dear Rebecca,

I would just like to say a really big thank you for the wonderful meal we all enjoyed last night. The food was delicious! As the numbers I gave you were correct, I must also compliment you on your ability to accommodate last minute changes to the choices of some of our members: it was admirable done. The waitresses were very understanding and couldn’t have been more obliging.

On behalf of the church I wish you and your staff a very Happy Christmas.

Many thanks,

Marilyn Dowell

Hi Rebecca

Thank you, once again we had a wonderful evening the food and the service was again excellent, everything went well. I look forward to our next visit.

Best wishes

Hi Steve,

I thought that I would drop you a note following our visit today.

I have had the privilege of playing some top courses over the last year in Western Australia and Dubai, together with Cromer, Sherringham, Wentworth, Woburn, Royal Dornoch, Gleneagles, Kings Barns and Muirfield  and I would say without doubt that the greens at Lutterworth today were the best that I have played on, they looked fantastic, received a ball and putted so true.

Please pass on my compliments to your head green keeper and his team as I thought the whole course presentation was outstanding.

Best regards

C Miles

I have had a fantastic welcome at  the club. It has been a great move for me from Maxstoke.

I enjoy every aspect of play, course and social interaction. I have met many people to play with in a short time and the competition set up encourages this.

Thanks again to everyone at the club.

Testimonial from Richard & Ada Parr

19 April 2014

The Lady Captain
Lutterworth Golf Club

Dear Liz

Three months in, and Richard and I wanted to put on record our delight at the way in which we’ve been welcomed into the heart of Lutterworth Golf Club.

We first played the course in your mixed open in 2013 (and won a prize!) and so when we started considering a move into the South Leicestershire area, it was completely natural for us to think of Lutterworth as a possible golf club.  Even at this early stage in our move – before we’d looked at houses – a call to the office elicited all sorts of useful information about nice villages, places to eat, etc.  Indeed, we ended up in just one of those villages – Gilmorton – and are thoroughly enjoying it.  So, that was the service BEFORE we joined!

On enquiring about a courtesy round in January, Richard and I were assured this was possible – even though I had owned up to us having played the course before.  And so came the day in January when we were greeted by you and the club vice-captain, Ben Benoist.  Weather dictated only 10 holes but it didn’t even take that time for you and Ben to explain the way things worked at Lutterworth Golf Club or for the course to convince us once more (even in the unfavourable weather!) that it was where we wanted to play.  Most of all, the welcome from you and Ben to us both – and the way you introduced us that day to other members and to John in the office – was a great example of what we’ve come to think of as ‘the Lutterworth way’.  The simple application process duly completed, we happily coughed up our subs and were soon officially Lutterworth members.

There was one little piece of trepidation on our part, and that was the next step of entering competitions and integrating with the existing members.  At our previous club, we’d been used to doing everything online and, truth be told, going back to manual sign-up sheets has been a bit of a culture shock – as has the fact that we now don’t book social golf times, but just turn up and play.  From my viewpoint with the ladies, it was made easier by the fact that I was able to come up and play the first few Tuesdays after we’d joined.  The ladies were very welcoming and in no time at all my diary was filling up with dates to play with various lady members – and I’ve enjoyed every one of those games and feel well on the way to making new friends.  And, let’s face it, we girls are better at these sort of things and – as some of my new fellow members have observed – I am actually quite good at mixing in and taking part!

Richard has found it just a little bit harder to integrate but not for the want of effort on Ben’s part.  He’s been an absolute stalwart in ensuring that Richard has a game whenever he sees him and has introduced Richard – and me – to a number of other members such that Richard is now settling in to the club nicely.  The final building block in our relationship with Lutterworth Golf Club has undoubtedly been the mixed matches.  Encouraged greatly by you to just simply join in on everything, we have signed up for the mixed team and Rita and Alwyn are everything one could wish for as captains of the team.  Their bubbly personalities, organisational skills and enthusiasm have made it a pleasure to be involved and, despite the result, we enjoyed our first team outing greatly.

As for the social scene, we’d only been members for about two weeks before the annual Burns Supper.  The thoughtfulness to put us on a table with another new member and his wife was greatly appreciated.  We enjoyed the entire evening and thought it was done superbly well – and this from the niece of an Ayrshire-born uncle who spoke at Burns Suppers all over the world!  The standard is now set and we know we will enjoy many years of social gatherings at our golf club.

So, two happy new members of Lutterworth Golf Club who are looking forward to many years of trying to conquer the course, making new friends and enjoying the social scene that goes with it all.  Thanks to you, to Ben and to all those who have made us feel so welcome.

With kind regards

Ada & Richard Parr

New Member Testimony of Tracy Botham

I joined Lutterworth Golf Club in November 2013. I moved to the Rugby area and for a long while continued to commute to my old club until I discovered the little gem of Lutterworth Golf Course, following a friend’s recommendation.

It can be quite daunting to move clubs, and I didn’t know anyone at Lutterworth G.C. however, the ladies section of Lutterworth G.C . have been so welcoming and inclusive, what a lovely bunch of ladies they are.

My experience so far has been very positive. As a weekend lady I popped my name down for a stableford competition and hey presto two ladies popped theirs down right next to me. You have to be brave when you don’t know anyone and the friendly ladies competitions are a great way to meet other lady members. Don’t worry about your level of ability either, I am a relative beginner and not yet managed to move from my handicap of 36! The ladies are very welcoming, encouraging and inclusive and I have received a very warm reception from them.

The club has a very personal style, which I really like and as long as you make the effort to join in with the new members events you will quickly make new friends to play golf with socially!

I have also joined in with the mixed matches, which are another great opportunity to meet other members, and you don’t have to play with your partners and can still participate as a single lady or lady with non-golfing partner!!

Special mentions of thanks need to go to Liz Toney, (Lady Captain) Lee Challinor (Professional) and Alwyn and Rita Odgen (Mixed Match Captain’s) all of you have made me feel welcome, included and at ease.

The things I have found really useful are the new member events, such as the Texas Scramble event with a meal afterwards, for the start of season. I now find that each new event I join in with, I drive home having met some more new members, and gradually I am beginning to know names.

I have also found it really helpful to just put my name down on the start sheets in the pro shop a week or so before a ladies competition and see who adds themselves next to me.

It is also a really nice light and airy club house with fab sun terrace, for that apres golf drink where you can chat with other members and make new friends.

Happy Golfing !!!!!
